What Does Hero Goblins Do?
Hero Goblins deploys the same 4 Goblins as the regular card for the same 2 Elixir. The difference is its Banner Brigade ability: once the last Goblin from that first wave falls, it drops a banner at that exact spot. For 1 Elixir, you can then summon 4 more Goblins directly on that banner.
The ability can't be activated the moment Hero Goblins is deployed - it only becomes available after the first wave has died, and the banner only lasts 7 seconds before the window closes. Used well, this turns a 2-Elixir card into up to 8 Goblins across two waves for just 3 Elixir total.

Hero Goblins isn't a win condition - it's a flexible, cheap support card that slots into cycle decks, bait decks, and chip-damage strategies as an efficient way to trade Elixir or finish off a low-health tower.
How to Counter Hero Goblins
Splash damage is the cleanest answer, same as against regular Goblins - Wizard, Baby Dragon, Valkyrie, or Bomber all clear the swarm efficiently before it can do meaningful damage.
Since the ability's value depends on the banner surviving its 7-second window, removing the first wave quickly (before the ability can even be considered) denies the second wave entirely.
